I have always loved my daddy
Ever since my birth,
And through the time I spend with him
Is where I get my worth.
Although I love my mommy,
My daddy is my friend.
Whenever he is not at work,
I must be with him.
My daddy is a pilot,
And war is far away.
When he is home, we make the most
Of each and every day.
At work he flies a helicopter,
With blades lifting him in the air.
Sometimes we go to the base,
To see many ‘copters there.
Sleepy eyes tug open,
Tired ears hear him read,
Tucked between him and Mommy,
I get the love I need.
His fingers clutched by little hands
As I have walked on toes,
Little feet on shinny shoes,
I learned to dance held low.
Lifted up and sitting high,
My hands full of his hair,
We run and play, having fun.
His shoulders are my chair.
The push-ups that my daddy does
Is piggyback for me.
As we wrestle in the floor
They hear my squeals of glee.
I love it when he holds me tight or
I sleep upon his chest,
Watching TV in his chair
Is hugging at it’s best.
When my daddy goes away,
Things just don’t seem right.
I must talk to him on the phone,
Before I can sleep at night.
Then when Daddy does come home,
We really feel the need
To take a nap together,
My daddy takes the lead.
I watch my daddy as he sleeps,
His breath blowing in the air,
And he wakes with a great start
When I pull his hair.
I like to play in shaving cream
As I watch my daddy shave.
Daddy helps me clean it up,
Until next time I misbehave.
I am his helper as he needs,
Sometimes I don’t do it right.
And when I really make a mess
My clothing is a sight.
My dollhouse is a nice one.
My daddy made it so.
When I want to play with dollies
My daddy will not say no.
At times my daddy plays doctor,
And fixes a broken wing.
Other times he comes to tea and
There are silly songs we sing.
Sometimes we play trucks and trains,
Although I’m not a boy.
He teaches me to shoot the ball.
His motorcycle is my toy.
My daddy helps me ride a bike
As he keeps it straight and tall.
Without his help holding me,
I would surely fall.
Sometimes he can be a lion,
Or even a ferocious bear.
We pretend a safari in Africa
Catching teddy trophies there.
My sister is real pretty,
As elegant as you’ve ever seen,
My daddy likes to roughhouse,
And he really likes me mean.
Whether it’s for the quiet times
Or throwing me in the air,
Reading, or coloring in a book,
I want my daddy there.
But when I’m in my best dress,
My hair all done in style,
My daddy takes me by the hand
And shows off his special child.
My daddy coaches my soccer team,
And the piano we do play.
The computer is our special place,
When he is home to stay.
When Daddy fixes breakfast,
Or picks us up at school,
And mends our broken toys,
We think our daddy’s cool.
Mommy says Daddy is on a Mission,
To keep the peace everywhere,
To keep us free, free those in need,
Is done by ones who care.
Through the years as I grow
They’ll say I’m Daddy’s girl.
I try to share his every move
My daddy is my world.
When the time comes that I’m grown
I think that you will see,
I will be the kind of person
My daddy wants me to be.
